Protein powder is the latest rage, since this macronutrient comprises your body’s building blocks and are required to build and to maintain muscle, bone strength, and numerous body functions. And, with the ease of mixing a scoop of powder into your smoothie, it’s also an easy way to boost your intake with ease for busy lives.

With such an important role in your diet, your health, and “yes,” also to create a lean body, do you really know your protein powder and is it the best choice for your health? That depends…
 
Most individuals don’t realize that Whey Protein/Whey Protein Isolates, are a dairy by-product that is processed with heat and acid to extract the fat. With the high concentration of dairy/animal protein, this dramatically increases acid levels that affect metabolism and ultimately wastes your muscle and bone tissues to balance out the higher pH acid. 
 
What’s more, according to a recent study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, the higher concentrations of whey animal protein creates an increase in your human growth hormone, IGF-1, which is also directly linked to an increased risk and occurrence of cancer. Think about it, the mama cows’ milk is naturally formulated to make the calf grow to be big! It does the same for you, but not just for muscles, for cancerous tumors too since cells receive the IGF-1 message to grow, so they divide and keep doing so!
 
What goes into our bodies codes our cells and communicates information with how they are to behave. And with whey, it starts with what the cow, herself, has eaten. Do you actually know what that cow was fed, or even how it was raised?
According to the USDA, approximately 60% of all cropland grows GMO corn, soy, and forage (alfalfa). More than half of the corn and soy is used for animal feed, and almost all of it is GMO. According to the USDA Economic Research Service, 92% of U.S. corn harvested in 2016 was genetically engineered, as was 94% of the soy! That’s what the cows are eating and that becomes a part of your protein shake!
 
Finally, many protein powders contain added or hidden sugars or sweeteners (sucralose, xylitol, aspartame, saccharin, acesulfame K, or erythritoland sorbitol), chemicals/excipients, flavorings, thickeners, (maltodextrin, dextrin, carrageenan) and synthetically created vitamins, minerals, and artificial colors (red 40, blue 1, yellow 5). Our bodies don’t recognize these substances; it’s not the “language” your cells recognize. And, since the FDA relies upon the manufacturer to review and evaluate the safety and labeling of their products, there’s really no insurance that a protein powder upholds integrity and contains what manufacturers claim.
 
Sure you might gain lean muscle with whey protein powder;
you might even lose weight!
But, there are hidden risks!
 
When choosing a protein supplement, choose wisely with Organic, nonGMO, plant-based protein – soy, whey, and gluten free, tested for integrity and with a track record of NO heavy metals.
